2019
In Nancy, three participants from Homburg took part in three one-day simulator-based courses (28.06.2019, 12.07.2019, 11.10.2019). During these courses, the principle of cataract surgery was learned and practiced throuh a simulator. Furthermore, two participants from Homburg had the opportunity to participate in a Phaco Wetlab using pigs' eyes in Nancy (12/06/2019).
In Homburg, the first keratoplasty workshop of the project took place on 23rd and 24th of August 2019. After a short introduction of lecturex in English, the participants learned about the keratoplasty procedures and practiced the suturing techniques for penetrating corneal transplantation on pigs’ eyes. In the second course from the 13th to the 17th of November 2019), the lectures recapitulated courses on corneal pathologies, then refined the knowledge of device-based diagnostics in Drylabs and suture techniques in the Wetlabs.
2020
On the 17th and 18th of July 2020, our clinic in Homburg held a third course. This purely practical course served as a basis for performing penetrating keratoplasties and for the surgical treatment of corneal injuries (e.g., managing difficult situations such as the surgical treatment of a corneal perforation).
2021
Homburg held a major INTERREG congress on the 11th and 12th of March 2021. The congress offered parallel sessions in the subjects of gynaecology, surgery/orthopaedics, ophthalmology and radiotherapy. Furthermore, we privided workshops in ophthalmology and radiotherapy.
