General information
As an eye clinic with a focus on "corneal diseases" we maintain a contact lens clinic. This is where the fittings, ordering and dispensing of contact lenses as well as the intensive patient education take place. In addition, check-ups are performed on contact lens wearers for visual acuity, fit and tolerance. Particular attention is paid to the instructions and training for the correct handling and care of the lenses.
Thanks to specialist knowledge and the use of the latest technologies, individual fittings are possible even in difficult corneal diseases and severe ametropia in order to archive maximum visual and wearing comfort as well as the best long-term tolerance.
Which lens?
The following aspects determine which lens is best:
- Personal way of life
- Professional activities
- Therapeutic background / purpose
- Contact lens request (daily or just for sport)
How to adapt
- First detailed consultation (please wear your current glasses and no contact lenses during this appointment)
- Subsequent performence of various measurements and examinations
- Putting on measuring lenses
- Determination of the lens strength (often deviates from the glasses strength)
- Order of personal contact lenses
Procedure for delivery
- Detailed briefing on handling and care.
- Only when the lens wearer can easily put the lenses in and take them out will they take them home to get used to and then slowly increase the wearing time.
Aftercare
- One or two check-up appointments follow.
- It is decided whether changes are still necessary.
- In the event of an intolerance, the lenses can be returned within 6 weeks.
We recommend routine checks every six months in the contact lens clinic or at an ophthalmologist.
Maintenance
Meticulous hand hygiene and consistent cleaning and care of the lenses are crucial. The specifications of the care product manufacturer should be followed since improper handling can lead to a variety of complaints and complications including corneal ulcers. Contact lenses must not be "cleaned" with tap water or saliva!
